Hi there! Welcome to my blog.

A bit about me:

As I’m sure you deduced from the blog title and tagline, I am a married woman who writes. I enjoy writing about all sorts of things, and at the time of this writing, I’m not exactly sure the direction this blog will go in, other than it will be a space where I share my thoughts about different topics and life experiences. Hence, the “waves.”

I’m also a high school English Language Arts teacher. I am grateful everyday for the opportunity to try and make a positive difference in the lives of the youth I work with.

I believe everyone has the ability to grow and improve themselves, to become a better person than they were yesterday, and the day before that, and so on. I believe in the power of choice and the power of purpose to create change in our lives.

I value honesty. Truth. Realness. I prefer it delivered with kindness, but I can roll with intensity if that’s what the Truth demands. Just keep it cool. Violence muddies up the discussion.

Lastly, I am very much in support of free speech. The only way bad ideas are beaten is if they are exposed to the sanitizing light of constructive and open discourse. We human beings have this incredible ability to converse with one another, to share our stories, to listen and to learn. No matter the emotions that may get riled up by controversial topics, I believe the benefits of free and open discourse outweigh the risk of offense. Censorship of ideas is insulting, anyway. I can make up my own mind, thank you very much. 😉

I think that’s it for now! Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoy the blog!
